Components of a Promotional Umbrella

Components of a Promotional Umbrella

Umbrellas are carefully constructed through detailed interworking mechanisms. Here is a quick rundown of all the key components in an umbrella and the way they work together to create a fantastic promotional tool.

Handle

The handle is the key feature for the user, especially when conditions are wet. Without a comfortable handle, no one will want to hold the umbrella. We like to use rubber handles for a soft and easy grip. Additionally, we offer either hook handles for a traditional feel or a modern sleek straight handle for a professional look. See our medium promotional umbrellas for ideas.

Frame and Shaft

Most of our umbrellas utilise a fibreglass shaft and a windproof frame. Fibreglass will not rot or corrode and hold its shape over time. We have determined this to be the most effective material for making a sturdy promotional umbrella. Additionally, the frame of an umbrella is essential for the ribbing of the canopy. This is what gives the umbrella its bubble open shape! Remember, if an umbrella is not durable, it will not survive during strong winds and thunderstorms.

Panels and Branding

Our umbrellas are designed with a vented canopy with strong polyester and/or a nylon blend. This is a fantastic material to combat rain but is also excellent for branding your unique name or logo. The panels are generally made of 8 sections to ensure full coverage over the user. Certain umbrellas utilise pongee as its material to withstand rain, dry quickly, fold easily and be coloured according to your brand! Check out our custom golf umbrellas for examples of large panels.

Ferrule, Runner and Other Components

The ferrule is the tip of the umbrella. It can be flat or made to a point. This holds the umbrella in place when expanded and offers protection for the lined rib frame. For modern umbrellas, there is also a runner that moves along the shaft of the umbrella to allow it to open, as well as a handle ring to stop the runner from moving too far. Even something as small as the handle strap can add flare to your umbrella and your brand!
